The Nordic bathing ritual relaxes tired muscles, detoxifies and boosts circulation.
When my grandparents were young, birch twigs were used to whip the skin to a tingling pink freshness. Today the ritual is more gentle.
Here is how:
- Relax in the sauna, breathing in the rich pine
- Drink plenty of water
- Dry brush the skin, or give it my special coffee & coconut rub (using coffee sump mixed with coconut oil, simple as that)
- Plunge into a cold lake or take a cold shower. This closes your pores and boosts your immune system.
- Repeat the sauna and cold plunges as many times as it feels good. I usually do at least three rounds. The more the merrier. Just make sure you stay hydrated (the finns go for vodka, I recommend water)
